United States plans to send more troops to Middle East
Washington: The United States has announced to send more troops to the Middle East amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran.
On Friday, the Pentagon said the United States would send additional fighter jet squadrons, navy cruisers and destroyers to the Middle East.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has approved the deployment of additional navy cruisers and destroyers in Europe and the Middle East.
The Pentagon has also decided to send additional fighter jet squadrons to the Middle East.
In a statement, the Pentagon said Austin ordered a change in its military position to increase Israel's defenses and ensure the United States is prepared to deal with any situation.
The announcement comes after the US targeted high-profile figures of Hamas and Hezbollah.
The Israeli military is believed to be behind these operations, and media reports are fearing a possible Iranian retaliation after the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, on Iranian soil.
