Amsterdam: (Web Desk) Worldwide, efforts are being made to develop electric planes to reduce air pollution.
Unlike vehicles that run on the ground, it is not easy to produce fully electric aircraft because the technology of batteries is not so advanced yet, but a company in the Netherlands, Allison, wants to make the production of fully electric aircraft a reality.
The company is working on developing an electric plane that can travel up to 500 miles on a single charge, can carry 90 people at a time, and will be environmentally friendly as it will reduce emissions. 90% will decrease.
Renard de Vries, the company's director, said that while most experts believed that the battery technology needed for electric planes could not be developed for several decades, the company expected to see the aircraft flying within a decade.
An early model will be produced by Allison in 2 to 3 years while a full prototype model will be ready by 2030. The aircraft is codenamed E9X and is currently limited to papers.
The design of this aircraft will be quite unique while it will have 8 engines installed inside it while its wings will be 138 feet long.
